Australian Alliance for Indigenous Genomics
Sunday 16 July 2023
Naarm Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre

ALIGN is a national consortium, led by the Indigenous Genomics Group at Telethon Kids Institute (TKI) and the Australian National University (ANU), in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, peak bodies and Communities, as well as research, clinical, industry and institutional partners from across Australia.

Indigenous governance both underpins and leads ALIGN’s work. It is instrumental in bringing forward the voices, values, and priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in genomics research from grassroots through to local and national perspectives.

This Satellite Meeting brought the ALIGN network together for the first time, along with international leaders in Indigenous genomics and data sovereignty. This was a stimulating day discussing the challenges and opportunities in Indigenous genomics, both from an Australian and global perspective, and creating collaborations and pathways to progress this important mission.

The Satellite Meeting also explored the pathway to creating an International Federation for Indigenous Genomics.
